TEXAS CORNERS
The three windows on the top floor remain consistent across photographs from the 1800s through the 1990s. In the late 1800s, the building was known as The Boardman Store.
Raymond and Pauline Crawford married in 1947. They built a home on Crooked Lake and operated the grocery store shown above for many years.
Notes: Wolbers moved in after the Crawford’s moved to Three Rivers.
The original town hall was a log cabin located at the corner of R Avenue and 8th Street. It was later moved to the end of Texas Corners Drive, and eventually, the building shown at the top of the photo served as the town hall.
Notes: Picture from 1984 when Marathon was the go to gas store.
The church was built in 1873 for $1,200. The second building was later converted into a schoolhouse in the 1880s. The Grangers met in the basement to conduct their business.
Notes: Rusty’s Mart later became Stillwaters.
