Five years before the most significant and extended flood in Texas Township history began, former Drain Commissioner Pat Crowley completed her depth-to-groundwater map for Kalamazoo and presented her findings to township board members on March 8, 2012.

Pondering Questions: What May Have Changed?

• If Texas Township "has some of the best conditions and groundwater depth in the county" in 2012, how is it that Texas Township has become one of the worst in such a short period?    

• Why is it now necessary for the need to spend millions spent for both emergency short and long-term piping structures?  

• What structurally might have changed?

• Has there been a change to a historical land feature?

• Has there been a change to historical water levels in Texas Township?

History may hold the answers.
